Sustainable Slow-Made Furniture from the Cotswolds
[one-two-tree]
12Tree [one-two-tree] was inspired by the landscape of the Cotswolds and the architecture that characterises it.
From the elegance of regency style townhouses, to the rustic features of a Cotswold stone farmhouse. Think original oak beams and a fireplace fitted with a slick modern wood-burner!
After working on the land here, I really want to celebrate the natural beauty of local timber, and the slow-made process of making unique furniture. I focus on sustainability by only cutting down trees that need to be felled, or responsibly source timber from trusted local suppliers, which is then barn-dried and finished with natural products to reduce my environmental impact.
The style of my furniture is strongly influenced by the simplicity of mid-century modern design and by the precept of the famous architect Antoni Gaudí that “there are no straight lines or sharp corners in nature” .
I do not leave the timber as it was sawn, but bevel and round the edges so it is smooth to touch, giving the rustic country style a more a more refined, contemporary finish.
