The Art & Science of Chopping Boards

This article is for anyone from chefs to home cooks, food lovers, cuisine connoisseurs and epicures. Oh, and I can’t forget my fellow woodworkers thinking of making their own chopping boards!

The Art & Science of Chopping Boards aims to inform you about the different types of chopping boards available, how they are made, and how to maintain your board - with a focus on sustainability and using environmentally friendly products in the UK.

The humble chopping board is one of the most used tools in the kitchen. It provides a hygienic, sturdy surface to prepare and serve your food on, while protecting worktops from knife marks and hot pans. Not all chopping boards are made equal though, so choosing a good quality one is a great investment!

When I looked into making chopping boards, I had no idea how much research I would end up doing. I found a huge range of articles online from detailed factual ones, to short blog posts giving some pretty bad advice. This inspired me to write my own brief article, combining everything I have found from multiple, cross-referenced sources in one easy to read place.

I hope you find it as interesting as I do!
