Waney Edge Oak Mantle Piece

Handmade using barn-dried Oak from Painswick in Gloucestershire, this mantle piece gives rustic country style a more refined, contemporary finish.

The wood used came from a gorgeous Oak aged at circa 800 years old, which sadly had to be felled in 2018 for safety reasons after a major limb failed and fell on a building!

This piece was sanded down to a very fine grit making it luxuriously smooth. It was then treated with a coat of low-VOC rot and insect protection, and finished a few coats of non-toxic spirit and linseed oil before applying a final layer of Earthborn furniture wax for a protective satin and environmentally conscious finish to showcase the natural beauty of the grain.

The brackets are handmade in Wiltshire by thehairpinlegco using powder-coated carbon steel.
